Herbarium

The herbarium isbuiltup on collections of the floristic surveys/botanical explorations undertaken by the DRC. The herbarium now harbours c. 20,000 collections, including a separate section on mangroves of Andhra Pradesh. It also houses the type materials of the new species described from the Centre. Besides, digital images of new species described from AP and Odisha have been collected from various herbaria and their digitized copies are maintained here. Researchers from various institutes, colleges and universities within and outside the state visit this herbarium for consultation. Internationally, this herbarium is known by the acronym 'BSID'.
